VOLUNTEERING

Do you want to understand the world? Let your heart speak.

Have the time of your life!

If you want to create and maintain something beautiful, you need a lot of idealism and every helping hand you can get. So we were all the happier when, in February 2016, the first volunteer came to us via the Workaway platform and actively supported us with the construction work. Word must have spread that volunteering on our farm is an experience, because since then the number of people wanting to help out at Michaelshof has grown steadily. There are now so many that our community grows to more than 300 people in the summer. And just as these young, committed people enjoy their time with us, we are delighted with the international atmosphere that is developing in our small village: a reflection of the diversity of this world and its inhabitants and an enrichment for us!

Discover yourselves!

The Blue House

Many nations under one roof

No drugs, no alcohol – we love people most for who they are. That's why all drugs are a no-go at Sammatz. We ask you to severely limit your alcohol consumption during your time with us, even outside of Sammatz, as it has a very negative impact on work and social life. Other drugs are also a no-go outside of Sammatz.

The place thrives on its beauty. Cleanliness and order are the basis for this. We depend on everyone's help to ensure that the houses and grounds are and remain truly beautiful.

Listening to music is only permitted with headphones – and not at all at work. We do not believe in any form of distraction at work. Concentrate on what you are doing! In all rooms and gardens, listening to loud music always disturbs someone, even during leisure time. Therefore: put on your headphones and otherwise play live music more often – there are a few instruments here...

Working hours vary depending on the volunteering agreement. As there is also a lot to do on Saturdays and Sundays, you can also work at the weekend and take the hours off later. You will mostly work in a team. There are many different areas to work in, the work is fun and you can learn a lot.

Respect for people, animals, plants and the earth is the basis of our coexistence. We therefore ask you to always consider the impact of your behaviour and to adapt it to the culturally diverse environment of our community. What should actually go without saying: any kind of violence is a no-go for us. In other words, aggressive behaviour involving threatened or actual violence will result in the immediate termination of your stay.

You will stay in shared rooms. For longer stays, it is possible to move to a single or twin room, depending on availability. In our spacious guest house – the Blue House – you will find large common rooms and a great kitchen. And there is even more space in the gardens if you need some peace and quiet.
